Years ago, our founder sat through a meeting in a west-facing office. Sunlight poured through the glass curtain wall, harsh enough to force people to look away; the air conditioning ran at full tilt yet could not hold back the heat radiating through the glass. Those by the window turned aside — shielding their eyes, and their privacy.

In that moment he realized something: glass, the most beautiful material in modern architecture, is also the most uncontrolled. It brings openness and views, but takes away temperature, privacy and a sense of security.
